Well i don't know if shady is the right word to be using here. according to wiktionary this is what it means and i chose the last one(Not trustworthy; Unfit to be seen or known).
Moving on i am talking about the railway station in Chennai called the Tidel Park(was later told that it is actually called Thiruvanmiyur railway station), which apparently is opposite to the IT PARK called the Tidel Park, situated near Thiruvanmiyur, for all those less informed. This is one of the first places in Chennai where there was the initial IT boom etc etc.
But the railway station hardly looks like one in such a prominent place. It is huge, but more than half the station is in disuse. There is water leaking everywhere, this is in a city where a huge railway station like Chennai Central is maintained relatively neat.
Well and the trains here are not the usual ones and are called parakkum rail, (translated as flying rail). It does seem worse than the normal local trains, its dirtier and more grimy i still can't believe that's possible.
To make matters worse, the place where we got down, called light house also looked as bad.
Then we went to this one hep mall and found that there were no tickets to watch a movie(it was the week end, well obviously). I was left little choice and hence , drove friends to boredom with my books shopping and then headed to another movie theater nearby (another multiplex). There were no tickets here even and no prizes for guessing that. But the difference is we were able to get tickets here in black, OK how many of us from outside of Chennai(bangalore drawing from my personal experience) have seen this happen, near a multiplex. I was shocked, but we got a ticket any ways and that is all matters.
The movie started late, ended late and we had to rush back without proper dinner to get back home, which is technically speaking in another district.
To top it all i later found out that there was a railway station 5 minutes from the theater with a direct train to my place.
The most adventurous part of the day was getting back home from the railway station at midnight. I had the company of all the Stray Dogs, who were looking at me wondering i was not back home and later resigned thinking that some humans are weird, they would watch anything copulate, especially dogs are they are the next most abundant species in human vicinity(clearly visible ones). It was embarrassing no doubt, but i did not want to run either with them behind me.
So there it is the shady railway station and related adventures, though the adventure part was only towards the end of the journey.
P.S: Please note this is not Chennai bashing, this was just my experience of things, and if people think that facing stray dogs alone is not adventure, i would dare you to try it at your own risk of course.
